VISION
To become a multidisciplinary innovation ecosystem that nurtures creative thinking, transforms ideas into impactful solutions, and empowers students and faculty to address societal, industrial, and environmental challenges through design, technology, and entrepreneurship.
MISSION
- To provide an open, inclusive, and hands-on learning environment that enables ideation, prototyping, testing, and validation of innovative concepts.
- To foster interdisciplinary collaboration among engineering, science, management, and allied domains for solving real-world problems.
- To promote a culture of innovation, design thinking, and problem-based learning aligned with national initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat and Startup India.
- To support students and faculty in developing prototypes, intellectual property, startups, and socially relevant technologies.
- To strengthen industry–academia interaction by facilitating mentorship, training, and collaborative projects through the IDEA Lab.
Key Objectives and Features:
- Hands-on Learning: IDEA Labs provide students with the opportunity to engage with equipment and tools to transform ideas into prototypes, aligning with the National Education Policy.
- Skill Development: The labs focus on developing 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking, collaboration, and communication.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship: IDEA Labs encourage students to develop innovative product ideas and foster a culture of innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship.
- Interdisciplinary Approach: These labs promote multidisciplinary research and teaching among faculty, encouraging collaboration across different fields.
- Community Engagement: IDEA Labs facilitate outreach and collaboration with nearby industries and institutions.
- Accessibility: The labs are designed to be accessible to students, faculty, and even the wider community, operating 24/7.
- Infrastructure: They typically require a built-up space of 3,000 to 5,000 square feet and include equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, and other tools.
- Performance Monitoring: AICTE oversees all IDEA Labs and tracks their performance through a centralized system, with results displayed on a leaderboard.
